HOUSEMARK / YOUR ACCOUNT

Terms of Use

Using HOUSEMARK

HOUSEMARK helps adults find and represent their House, connect with family and communities, and preserve history. These terms describe participation in HOUSEMARK and the responsibilities that come with using the service. Updated: 8 October 2026.

Accounts and participation

Provide accurate account and eligibility information, keep your credentials secure, and use only accounts and provider identities you control. You are responsible for contributions made from your account. Do not bypass access controls, upload malware, impersonate another person, misuse invitations, harass members or exploit the service. Report compromised accounts to support.

Family identity and claims

A surname, suggested match, House membership or community membership does not prove a biological or legal relationship. House, branch, family line and person records are separate from communities and Circles. Submit only claims you can support, respect living-person privacy, and do not assert exclusive ownership of a surname or present disputed history as independently verified fact. Reviewers can request evidence, reject a claim or mark information disputed. Review labels describe the evidence process and are not a legal certification of ancestry, identity or professional licensing.

Your content and permissions

You retain rights you hold in your content. By submitting material, you authorize HOUSEMARK to store, process, display and deliver it within the audience and service functions you select, including permitted caching and backups. You must have the rights or permission needed to upload photos, documents, recordings, symbols and personal information. Do not publish private evidence or another living person’s sensitive information without appropriate permission. Public contributions can be copied by viewers. Historical sources and House marks must preserve available provenance, creator and license information; attribution alone does not grant reuse rights.

Boards, groups and moderation

Boards follow their configured governance and scoped publishing rules. Moderators can approve, reject, remove or restrict content, lock replies, suspend participation, escalate a report, mark information disputed or restore an intended prior state. Moderation actions are logged. You can report content, block users and mute supported scopes. Administrative roles apply only to their assigned scope and active eligibility. Contact [email protected] for an appeal; do not retaliate against reporters or reviewers.

Credentials and House Standing

Self-reported credentials are not independently verified achievements. Private evidence remains subject to reviewer access controls. Earned House Standing uses configured contribution weights, verification factors, membership and consent; it may change when evidence, eligibility or the calculation changes. It is a service ranking, not a statement of personal worth, family superiority or a professional recommendation. Large populations are subject to density/log scaling. Payment never changes earned Standing.

Sponsored placements and purchases

Sponsored or promoted House placements are separate, labeled paid visibility. Product availability and prices come from the platform store. Purchases use Apple or Google native billing, require server verification, and activate a campaign for the configured duration. Replayed, invalid, expired or revoked transactions do not confer additional benefits. Refunds and revocations follow the relevant store process and can end a campaign. HOUSEMARK does not process payment cards or guarantee a particular number of impressions, members or ranking change.

Archives and historical information

Historical material may be incomplete, incorrect, culturally sensitive or disputed. Submit sources and distinguish approximate dates from known dates. GEDCOM uploads are not a consumer import feature: request support review, supply consent and await staff approval before a reviewed upload can occur. Review approval does not automatically publish living people or make every historical claim correct.

Account removal and service changes

You can request account deletion in the app or through the public deletion instructions. Sessions are revoked immediately; background work removes or anonymizes the relevant live records and media. Protected backups and minimized security/transaction records follow applicable retention rules. Content access or participation may be restricted for abuse or security reasons. HOUSEMARK can correct records, revise weights or update service functions; material terms changes should be communicated by the operator. We do not guarantee continuous availability or the accuracy of historical material.
